Practice Ownership
Dr. Nicholas R. Pérez graduated high school from Parkway West in 2003, and then continued his education at Saint Louis University where he received a B. A. in Biology in 2003. He then attended University of Missouri–Columbia; College of Veterinary Medicine (Class of 2013). During his time at Mizzou he participated with Accelerated Genetics which allowed him to become certified in Artificial Insemination, and received a Clinical Small Animal Dentistry Certification from University of Illinois; College of Veterinary Medicine. Additionally, during his time at the University of Missouri, Dr. Pérez was awarded the Virginia L. Busch Scholarship for outstanding leadership, character, and integrity as well as the Senior Student Radiology Award for excellence in Veterinary Clinical Radiology.
Following graduation Dr. Pérez worked in Saint Louis as full time companion animal private practice veterinarian. During this time he was also involved in industry as a local speaker, as well as a consultant in the Saint Louis Biotechnology industry on topics pertaining to animal health. Additionally, he sat as a community advisory board member for WAMCO (Washington University in St. Louis, School of Medicine, Auburn University, University of Missouri, Columbia, Consortium for One Health), which is a collaborative partnership among three preeminent research institutions. The center’s mission is based on the emerging concept of “One Health,” focusing on the health linkages among humans, animals, and their shared environments with a focus on the area of comparative clinical oncology in humans and companion canines.
Dr. Pérez has served on the Greater Saint Louis Veterinary Medical Association Board of Directors from 2016-2018 as the past Vice President, President, and Director. He currently sits on, the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association Veterinary Technician Task Force, as well as on the Midwest Institute and Moberly Area Community College/University of Missouri Veterinary Technology Program advisory committee.
Currently, Dr. Pérez primarily works as a Senior Professional Services Veterinarian for Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, where he was able to match many of his skills and passions into his daily work life. Dr. Pérez continues to practice clinical veterinary medicine on a part time basis. He also acts as an Guest Clinical Instructor: Community Practice at the University of Missouri-CVM/VHC in teaching clinical veterinary medicine to both didactic and clinical veterinary medical students. Additionally, he assists in teaching/instructing in CVM Outreach programs to local/regional/and national veterinarians. These topics include but not limited to following fields of veterinary medicine: Dentistry/Oral Surgery, Dental Radiography, Oral Regional Anesthesia, Parasitology, and preventative health care.
Lastly, Dr. Pérez has completed the Veterinary Management Institute program offered by Colorado State University and the American Animal Hospital Association.
Dr. Pérez has special interests in Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Zoonotic Disease, Surgery, Dermatology, Dentistry, Radiology, Internal Medicine, and Practice Management.
Dr. Pérez and his wife reside in Town and Country, Missouri with their beautiful daughter and 2 sons, as well as their Labrador Retrievers.
In his spare time he enjoys his time with family and friends, outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, dog training with his dogs.
Dr. Pérez has found himself very lucky to have grown up in a very diverse household. It is one that is bilingual (English/Spanish) and multicultural as his family until very recently had a horse ranch (KANiM Ranch) in Clarksville Missouri. Though he grew up in West County, he has always felt a strong connection to his roots, both Cuban/Spanish and those in Clarksville.
